Eventually on all the models I have seen people own or owned myself, with a couple exceptions has stopped working because one of the wires at this convenience switch comes loose within the sheath. The sound and recording abilities of this headset are amazing. Other then that, I would recommend this headset to anyone who wants to make online voice chat a great experience for both you listening and others being able to hear what it is you are saying clearly. I personally after the first one I bought, tie the cord in a knot around the switch thereby eliminating it from torque from above or below thereby bypassing the design flaw. The only drawback to this is an addition the gave that actually causes problems over time. There is a volume control and mic mute part way up the cord that can be clipped on your shirt etc.
And here on Amazon is where I found it out by reading someones review. So yes, it is compatible with this headset. Then I read that Plantronics has discontinued them, but what I didn't know was that this headset(GameComPro1) is EXACTLY the same as the 500's, with the only difference being that these are silver while the 500's are black.
Especially with my type of music (hard rock/heavy metal) using the equalizer preset for ROCK is a must. Actually, it labels them as the DSP 500's when you are in the software, so that confirms it. Makes the sound very powerful.
One of the ears in my DSP 500's lost it's sound recently, so I threw them out and looked for a new pair online, but had no such luck. It really makes a HUGE difference. And Plantronics does not ship the PerSono software with any of there DSP headsets anymore, so to download it, go to the following site:http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/support/softwaredownloads/index.jhtml._requestid=4922075Hope this review helps.
I was so happy to find this out. Anyways, this is really the best headset out there, and is defintley worth the price range of between 50 to 100 dollars, which is the giving price for most all online retailers for this headset. And just a quick tip, you should DEFINTLEY use the PerSono Software that has the Equalizer settings.
They worked very well with all movies I used them with. The microphone is great, and works very well in all games and recording.Overall, I highly recommend this product to anyone who would like an all in one solution so you don't need speakers. I just took it on a trip and used it for around 15 hours, in 5-6 hour periods, and other than my glasses digging into my ears, they were very comfortable. I was a little worried about this headset, but after giving it a try I am very impressed. It is great for laptops and desktops alike, and the sound is very clear and flawless except for a few strange but very minor anomalies.
It was probably my fault anyhow being rough and careless with it. I had it for a couple of months then there was no sound coming out of one side. I probably could have used the warranty but I didn't really care since I stopped playing WoW and don't use the headset anymore. I bought this headset to play World of Warcraft and oh what an improvement over my separate headphones and mic. If you are like me and tend to pull the wires a lot by accident go find a wireless one. I actually came out very clear. The sound was suprisingly good and I got no complaints when I spoke. I had an issue in XP when I switched between the headset and my speakers where there would be no sound but when I switched to a Vista machine I had no problems.
Unlike many other headsets, the comfort level remains the whole time you wear it (it won't give you a headache after a couple of hours wearing it). I didn't need to install any drivers, it did everything automatically. This is a great headset. I haven't had a chance to test out the mic yet but it is insanely comfortable to wear and it sounds great.
